![]() ![]() ![]() Not sure Comcast understands the word "security" any better than Verizon FioS - also with "public" router access, subscriber side of the fibre NTE - did, but at least Comcast doesn't cut their own cable every few months. ![]() Probably not many name-brands I have NOT used over many years, but I'd guess more have been "Netgear" than other brands. The WiFi router - mine, not Comcast - for family visitors gets replaced regularly, and primarily for security upgrades, not age or lack of performance. My 'real' residential service is on 1 GigE and 10 GigE CAT5S, bastion server and Proxy off the 'hardware' backside of the Comcast NTE. It now lives inside a copper-sheathed Faraday cage 24" or so off the main system ground for the service entrance panel. Had them option their WiFi OFF, only to find it back active again shortly afterwards - exposed, and in more than one sense of the word - to support their own roaming. It works really well.Ĭomcast, fixed-IP, Business service here. Since I use Comcast as my ISP (I know, I know.) I use their modem. ![]()
